Rodeo Round Up! {With a Freebie}

Hey y'all!  It feels like forever since my last post.  I thought the summer would bring me more time to stay in touch with my blogger friends.  In fact, it feels like I have been doing a whole lot of nothing.  However, when I think about it I guess I have been doing a lot….just not much with school related stuff.  This week I finally got out of my funk and started thinking about what theme I want to begin my school year with.  So, here is my Five for Friday courtesy of Doodle Bugs Teaching.

I think I will start my school year out with a 'Western' theme. I created this pack that contains lots of alphabet activities.
You can find it on TpT and TN by clicking on the initials.
After I finished the alphabet pack, I started a math pack.
I am really proud of this one.  There are tons of different levels so I can differentiate according to the level of my learners.  You can find it at TpT and TN by clicking on the initials.
I like to start my school year out making a class book that has pictures of my students so they can become familiar with their peers and learn their names.  I came up with this 'Wanted' poster.  It's a freebie, so if you would like your own copy you can click on the pictures or HERE.

Graphics are from KPM Doodles and the font is from Kate over at Fun in ECSE.
This weekend I am going to Browne's Irish Street Faire to kick off the official first day of summer!
Then, on Sunday I am sure I will be doing plenty of this to celebrate the longer days.  :)
Hope you had a good week!
Thanks for reading.  :)

Throwback Thursday!

I am linking up with The Teaching Tribune for 'Throwback Thursday'.
Everyone participating this week is asked to blog about a single photo that shows themselves in the grade that they currently teach, as well as when they knew they were destined to be a teacher.  So, without further ado……………………
First, let me explain….I am the youngest of eight children, which means photos of me growing up are few and far between.  This photo was my kindergarten picture.  There wasn't one of me in pre-k, but that's ok, I bet I looked pretty close to this.  This picture hangs in my mom's house.  I had to take a picture of the picture.  :) One of the best things about having older sisters is that there was always one who would curl my hair.  I still remember my sister Edie pretty much getting me to do anything for her so she would curl my hair for picture day.

I think I was destined to do some sort of job working with people.  I wanted to teach or be a social worker for as long as I remember. I come from a long line of family members who chose a career of working with children.  My dad was a teacher and three of my siblings are teachers.  I also have a sister who is a psych nurse for a children's residential facility.

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I am linking up with Covered in Glitter and Glue for 'What I'm Loving Wednesday.
YOGA
I started my classes and am LOVING them.  It's so nice in the summer to be able to take some daytime classes.  :)
MUSIC
I love listening to music.  I am on the hunt for some new music for my classroom.  I would like a new Months of the Year, Days of the Week, Hello Song, and Weather Song.  I have a friend who is very musically inclined……I am hoping to sweet talk and inspire my friend to write some original stuff.  :)  I also love finding new artists.  If you have any suggestions let me know!

ANTHROPOLOGIE
I have a part-time job at Anthropologie that I LOVE.  Not only do I love the company, but am absolutely crazy for my co-workers.  When I am there I feel like I am among family.
What are you loving? Head over to Covered in Glitter and Glue to let everyone know.
Thanks for reading!  Have a great day. :)

The Day the Crayons Quit {Freebie}

I am linking up with Deanna Jump's 'Let's Talk About Books' linky.  This week I want to share with you "The Day The Crayons Quit' by Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers.
I read this book to my kids at the beginning of the year and they loved it.
I blogged about in last September.  You can read my original post HERE.
The book is about a boy's box of crayons going on strike because of various reason (they are used too much, not enough, only to outline, or in the case of orange and yellow, they each think they should be the color of the sun).  Here are a few excerpts….

This book is really funny and opens the door to quite a few persuasive writing ideas.
I also made a PowerPoint Presentation of Essential Questions to use after reading the story.  I put it up on my Teamboard and take turns having little ones come up to answer questions.  It is interactive, so all they have to do is touch the picture and the correct answer will appear.  It's a good way to check comprehension.  You can pick it up for free at my Teachers pay Teachers store HERE or from my original post.

I hope you enjoy it and would love any feedback.
Thanks for reading!  Have a great day.  :)

Five for Friday!

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for 'Five for Friday', although I must admit my week has been pretty low key.
It was my first official week of summer break.
This pretty much sums up what I did!  I needed one week just to do nothing.  :)
I did manage to finish up a new pack I posted on TpT and TN.  It's an ABC stamp it type activity.  You can use bingo dot markers, highlighters, or markers with it,  It includes upper and lower case cards, along with beginning letter sounds.  There are lots of ways to differentiate, depending on the level of your learner.

I also made a shape stamp it freebie.  You can grab it HERE.

I started my yoga classes.  I love them.  It always amazes me how sore I get from them.  It must mean either 1} I am in bad shape 2} I am getting a good workout or 3} A combination of the two. (I vote for #3.  :)
I know I have mentioned this before, but my son plays baseball.  I am excited to watch him this summer.  His games started this week.  I am just hoping the weather cooperates so I cat catch a couple of his games this weekend.  :)
Hope you have a great weekend!  Thanks for reading.  :)
