A Peek at My Week!

One of my Near Year's resolutions was to be better about blogging on a more consistent basis. So, I am happy to be able to showcase our first week back from winter break.  :)y Week
This week we read about arctic animals.  After learning that polar bears have black skin underneath their fur, we made our own.
After gluing the bear on a large piece of construction paper, a combination of glue and white paint was brushed over the entire bear.
Next coconut was sprinkled over the glue mixture.  Then we added eyes and a nose after it was dry.
I think they turned out pretty darn cute!  This was my first attempt at this project.  The next time, I think I will add the coconut into the paint/glue mixture.
Of course, we had to read 'Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?'
We used puppets to help retell the story.  This little cutie patootie just learned how to whistle, so she was the perfect choice to be the zoo keeper.  :)
We also colored a take home emergent reader.  You can find tons of retelling activities in my pack available HERE.
We are really hitting rhyming hard second semester.  This little guy is finding a rhyme for 'bear'.
Here this little learner is matching ten frame mittens to the same number made with tally marks.
Both these activities pushed my students and I wasn't sure how successful it would be, but I was SO happy with how they did.
I recently completed a 'Winter Wonderland Math and Literacy Pack' that both these activities came from.  This pack is 144 pages and full of tons of winter themed activities.  You can check it out HERE.
Some of my students were having trouble identifying letters of the alphabet, so I created some activities that I put all together in a pack you can find HERE
This girl is super happy because the Kansas City Chiefs are in the playoffs! YAY!
So, needless to say I will be glued to the game Saturday.  I'm so nervous, but excited.  Go Chiefs!!!
Be sure to check out Doodle Bugs Teaching Five for Friday and/or link up your week!
