5 for Friday & a Gingerbread Man Freebie

It's time for another Five for Friday hosted by Doodle Bug's Teaching.
This short week at school was action packed!  Here are a few of our activities.
We played a math game using turkeys, feathers and dice.  After rolling the dice, each little learner gave a turkey that many feathers.  We talked about greater than and less than, too.
Another math game consisted putting beads on pipe cleaners.  This idea came from Pre-K Pages.  The littles loved both games.
We also made this turkey craft.  They used their their fingers to paint the paper plate.  This can be very hard for the sweeties who hate getting their hands messy.
We also made these turkey headbands.
I love how they turned out!
We had a feast!
We had a great turnout of family.
I think Thanksgiving may be one of my favorite holidays.  I love getting together with family and enjoying good company and good food!
We had a hand drawn banner and everything!
I also appreciate all the support I have received from the blogging community and the supporters of my TpT and TN stores.  To show my appreciation I will have all items in both stores on sale.  My TN shop will have items on sale from Saturday through Monday.  My TpT shop will have items on sale Monday and Tuesday.

Turkey Time!

Wow!  This week flew by.  It's already Friday, again and time for Doodle Bug's Teaching Five for Friday.

This is our door.  Each little one decorated a feather.  I found the huge wiggle eyes at Michaels.  The waddle is a red feather boa.

We basted turkeys!  I cut turkeys out of foam from an Ellison die, gave the littles some water and a pipette.
They had so much fun.  It was great fine motor work, too.
We made these adorable turkeys!  The pattern was a freebie from Doodle Bugs Teaching.  I love, love, love how they turned out.

I am taking a math class and had to make a connections game according to preschool/kindergarten CCSS.  I chose to make a memory match type game using 3D objects.  There are directions allowing for differentiation.  Click HERE to grab your copy.

I am SO nervous!  For the second time ever in my life I will be responsible for the turkey.  If you have any tricks and tips for cooking a good bird, please let me know.  :)

Thanks for reading!  Have a good day!

Flies, Pies, Freebies, and Fives!

It's FRIDAY!  So, that means it's time for Doodle Bugs Teaching's Five for Friday!

My sweeties love 'going on a bear hunt', so this week I decided to go on a number hunt with my morning class.  We turned off the lights. Everyone had a flashlight.  I called out and number and held it up for those not able to recognize numbers independently yet.  Our little learners then found the number on our rug and shone their light on it.  They loved this activity so much.  It definitely will be a repeat.  I need to buy a few more flashlights to do this with my afternoon, or I could break them up into smaller groups.
We read two 'old lady' books this week.  Our first story was 'There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly'.  Each little one had there own old lady prop to retell/sequence the story at school and then they took it home to share with their families.  They were very engaged.
We also practiced reading our color words with this page.  The morning sweeties practiced identifying colors.

Another activity we did was sequencing the animals by size on a sentence strip.  They did great.
The next book we read was 'I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie'.  We retold the story with the help of a puppet and the sequencing sheet included in my pack available on TpT and TN.
We then sorted the items from each book and compared/contrasted with the help of hula hoops.  We even made a Venn diagram. Lots of learning took place!
Of course, we had to make pies this week.  We painted a paper plate brown.
Spread on a mixture of shaving cream, white glue, orange paint, and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice.
You have to have whipped cream on your pie, so they told me their age and counted out that many cotton balls to top off their pies.
Thursday we made real pumpkin pies!  We made 'pie in a bag'.
We mixed pudding, milk, canned pumpkin, and spices in a ziploc bag.
Next we pounded graham crackers in a baggie for our crust.
Pour it all in a cup, top it with whipped cream, and voila` instant pumpkin pie.  It was delicious!
Click HERE for your own copy of the recipe.

We also made these tabletop turkeys.
It was great fine motor practice snipping around the circle to make the feathers.
We added wiggle eyes, a beak, waddle, and feet.
I love how they turned out!

Squirrels, Nuts, and 5 for Fri.~Oh, My!

It's time for another Five for Friday, hosted by Doodle Bugs Teaching.
Fall is definitely in the air.  To celebrate we made acorns this week.
First, we cut them out.
Next, we painted a mixture of karo syrup, water, and brown paint on the bottom half.
Then, we painted some glue across the top.

Last, we sprinkled chocolate sprinkles on the glue.
The sweeties loved this messy, but fun art activity.  :)
We also made squirrels.
We finger painted the squirrel pattern, added wiggle eyes and fur cut from a boa.

We went on a nature walk.  We collected leaves, nuts, sticks, bark, and so much more!

I posted a new pack on TpT.  It's just in time for Thanksgiving.
