Celebrating the Alphabet!

This week we celebrated learning our last letter of the alphabet with a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Bash! We taste tested coconut in various forms (candy, shredded, and juice) and then voted and graphed whether we liked it or not.  In both the morning and afternoon classes more people liked coconut than did not.  This allowed us to compare numbers and talk about greater than and less than.  We cracked open a real coconut then touched, smelled, and a few brave souls even tasted it.  After that we went outside and had a fabulous time racing to the coconut tree to place letters of the alphabet.  You know we grow tropical trees in Missouri, right?  (Oh how I wish our climate was that warm) :)
Here our little learners are practicing our abc's by playing a game of "I have/Who has?"  They also did a great job of practicing 10 frames with Tropical 10 Frames, available on TpT and Teacher's Notebook.  Pick up your own copy for $1.00.
