Applicious Fun!

This week was filled with tons of apple fun!

We climbed an 'apple tree' to pick a delicious treat.  :)
The morning babes…..
and the afternoon sweeties.  It rained in the afternoon of our original apple picking day, so we had to wait one day.
That day we made apple taffy pizza with another class, which was delicious!
The learners all helped peel apples.  They also helped mixed the ingredients.  They were totally engaged and loving it.
Here is the recipe, just in case you would like it.
We taste tested red, yellow, and green apples and then voted on our favorite.
After we voted, each little learner made an apple craftivity of the same color.  I love how they turned out!  The pattern was from Cara Carroll's Apple Babies clipart.

We ended the week with an 'Apple Fun Day'.  Some of our activities included…..
Playing baseball with an apple,
using bug catcher tongs to pick up miniature apples to race a friend, and
having a spoon race using real apples.
When we were all finished, we threw the leftover battered and bruised apples over the fence for our wildlife friends to enjoy.  :)

Rodeo Round-Up!

Yay!  It's Friday and time to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching and Five for Friday
This week we finished our cowboy/cowgirl theme.  Some of our activities included making cowboys and cowgirls.  I love how they turned out.  :)

To get a little fine motor workout, the little ones peeled stickers to decorate a cowboy hat and snipped construction paper on a stick{paper}horse to make the mane.
We continued to work on colors, shapes, numbers, and letters of the alphabet with a cowboy theme.
At the end of the week we celebrated with a rodeo!
We had so much fun!
This weather this weekend will be perfect for the annual Plaza Art Fair and some MU football.  :)

All About Me!

It's Friday, so of course that means it's time for Doodle Bugs Teaching 'Five for Friday.  First, let me just say I have the sweetest kids in the whole wide world this year.  I am in L.O.V.E. with them.  It's only been three weeks into our school year and they are already rock stars!  I have a feeling that this is gonna be a very good year.  Yes, indeed!
We started an 'All About Me' theme this week.  Each sweetie pie could bring some of their favorite items from home to share.  It was such fun hearing them tell about their treasures.
They took such pride showing them off.  :)
After reading 'Me I Am' we made this adorable creativity offered as a freebie from the Bilingual Scrapbook.
I sent the all about me portion home to be completed by parent and child.  What came back AMAZED me!
So much creativity and thoughtfulness went into this at home project.  I loved how they turned out.

We worked on our fine motor skills by peeling stickers and putting them on letters of our names.
The weather finally cooperated and we were able to get in some time outside for recess.  I love the joy and innocence of my little friends.  They were filled with wonderment and awe of a little ropy poly.  It was so darn cute.  :)
I am off to Chicago this weekend for a wedding.  I cannot tell you how excited I am!!!
What was your week like?  Link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching's Five for Friday to tell us!
Thanks for reading!  Have a great day.  :)

Currently September!

I am linking up with Farley's 'Currently' from Oh' Boy 4th Grade.
LISTENING:  I love thunderstorms in the middle of the night.  My dog feels differently, however.  She has her head under the bed (her body is too big to fit)  It's quite a sight.  :)
LOVING:  My three day weekend!  I know school just started, but I needed an extra day of rest.
THINKING:  Next weekend my nephew is getting married in Chicago.  I am looking so forward to seeing family members who live away from me.  It will be a like big family party.  Plus, Chicago is not a bad little town to hang out in…..all the festivities are downtown.  Yippee!  I can't wait.
WANTING:  Summer in my neck of the woods was actually pretty mild.  The temperatures were pleasant for the most part.  Wouldn't you know it, as soon as school started so did a heat wave.  :(  It's been so hot that most days we can't go outside for recess.  Boo!  I am wanting the heat to break and return to some weather we can enjoy!
NEEDING:  I pretty much played all weekend, so I need this extra day to get some things done.
3 TRIPS:  I have been fortunate enough to travel throughout the United States.  I have spent quite a bit of time in Canada, too.  (Such a beautiful place)  However, I have never been to Mexico.  I would like to find a beautiful beach to spread my toes in the sand with a margarita in my hand!  I would also love to go to Ireland to search my roots.  Italy is just a place I have always wanted to visit.  It seems so beautiful, romantic, and fun.  Maybe one day I can mark these of my bucket list.
